Mt Victoria School – Playing Area Optimization – Gabion Stone Retaining Walls & Seating

The Challenge

MET Mt Victoria is a small private Christian School located on the Western Escarpment of the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. The school is surrounded by areas of spectacular natural beauty, crisp fresh air and has a great learning culture. Due to the topography of the Blue Mountains, flat areas to play ball are at a premium. School management wanted an area for spectators and students to sit and watch ball games, eat food, etc. at recess and lunchtimes. An area at the end of the existing oval was identified as needing upgrading as it was sloping, hard to maintain and had an existing tree that was proving dangerous to the children’s play.

Our Solution

Gabion Stone walls with timber tops were selected to fulfil the requirements for the school as well as providing the students a clean, neat, safe, very practical and good looking area to sit in. Solve Civil not only constructed the wall and seating, but removed the tree, cut, filled and re-turfed the area.
