South Bowenfels Church
This is a new Church built to serve local residences of the area. Built to look like a house, it blends in well with the surrounding residential subdivision.
Located on sloping ground in a residential area, a substantial cut was required to provide the parishioners with a level Carpark to navigate.
Steel I Beams and timber-look concrete sleepers were selected for this Retaining Wall that ranged from 600mm – 2400mm high, and was installed with rear ag drainage and a safety fence along the top of the wall.
- Due to the very high retaining needed, special engineering was required
- Heavy Galvanised I beams were installed up to 4000mm into the ground
- For walls up to 100mm high, double thickness concrete sleepers were used on the first 4 courses
- Installation was done using a specialist boring contractor as the ground was very hard and 450mm diameter x 4000mm deep piers were required
- Installation included rear ag drainage and connection to stormwater system, along with a safety tubular pool style fence along the top of the wall for fall safety
