Normet Australia – Bunding & Waste Containment Works
Normet Australia is the Australian subsidiary of a European company that specialises in the supply of equipment and chemicals for the shotcrete and waterproofing industry.
This company is a major player in the extensive tunnel construction industry currently in full swing in the Sydney Metro area such as the Westconnex, M5 & Northconnex projects
Normet had 3 main environmental issues due to the building they were in not being designed for chemical manufacturing or handling as follows:
- No area to wash down the equipment & contain wastewater
- No wastewater containment system within the bunded chemical manufacturing area so there was no way of cleaning the floor or equipment or spills and containing the waste
- A bunded concrete area that could be used as a concrete testing lab was required with a wastewater containment system
Solve Environmental worked with Normet to deliver the following:
- Bunded Washdown area for the clean down of spraycreting machinery and sample spray patches for customer displays & education
- Installation of a sealed grated spoon drain waste containment system within the manufacturing bunded area
- Installation of infrastructure, bunding & wastewater containment system for a Concrete Testing Laboratory
- New Washdown Area - Cut existing concrete, install new concrete rollover trafficable bund, install silt containment system, install pumps wastewater containment system and paint bund safety yellow
- New Drainage to Existing Containment Area - Cut concrete within existing chemical manufacturing area, install stainless steel sealed channel drain, connect to a new pumped wastewater containment system, dowel into adjacent concrete & reinstate.
- New Concrete Testing Laboratory – Cut concrete, install stainless steel grated drainage, oversized Polyethylene silt containment pit, contained pumped waste system, flexible rubber drive over bunding, walls, roller shutter, dowel and reinstate concrete.
