Inch St Fuel Depot
This fuel depot had been constructed by Caltex in the 1970’s and had been decommissioned in the late 1980’s, remaining unused until bought by the current owner in 2003. Plans for the site include a future development site and it is currently in use as a PE pipe fabrication yard
An Environmental Assessment & Report had been completed at the time of the decommissioning and this had identified an area of contamination immediately adjacent to one of the underground fuel tanks. In order to obtain a clearance certificate for the site to enable future industrial development, the site needed to be cleaned up, tanks removed & soil contamination remediated.
The current owner decided to commence decontamination works so as to re-develop the site for industrial purposes. A total of 2 x 100,000L & 1 x 60,000L tanks were excavated and removed off-site for recycling and there is an ongoing program of monitoring groundwater via monitoring bores, along with on-site contaminated soil remediation.
Solve Environmental worked with the nominated Environmental Consultant through the process and looked after all paperwork & permits that were required with the Local Council, EPA and regulatory bodies.
