Blaxland Floodwall
A flood study completed on The Great Western Highway in the Blue Mountains City Council area had identified several areas that were flood-prone. This particular area would put the residences that backed onto the highway at risk of significant damage should there be an uncontrolled flood event
An above ground flood wall was designed tying into a new footpath providing a physical barrier and area for floor water to shed into a large stormwater collection system and around the sides of the affected properties.
- Identify main optic fibre, water mains, telecommunications and stormwater services
- Excavate and install steel reinforcement for paths and flood wall
- Pour footings and pathway in one sequence
- Concrete core filled blockwork & directly adhered capping
- Safety bollards and handrails
- Works completed with pedestrian access generally being maintained
